Oh, Valentine’s Day. For us single girls out there, it’s just another day where we can be reminded how single we are. But, it doesn’t have to be! This year, I am actually gone for Valentine’s Day, ironically surrounded by other singles at this Greek young adult conference. Regardless, here are some ideas to celebrate the holiday and embrace your singleness!
1 // Take yourself on a date
Who says you need a boyfriend to go on a date? Find something you want to do and take yourself on a date instead. Whether it’s to a movie or out to a new restaurant, take the opportunity to do something for yourself to show yourself some love. It’ll feel good to get out and do an activity that you’ve always wanted to do but couldn’t get anyone else on board. What better time than Valentine’s Day?
2 // Galentine’s
Have some single gal pals? Host a galentine’s get together where you all can get together and have some fun! I’ve done one where I’ve gone out to a fun bar and another where we had a pajama-themed party. Both were equally as fun and a chance to bond with your gal pals. Who needs boys when you have your girls?
3 // Self-care
Since Valentine’s Day is on a Friday this year, it’s the perfect time to have a little self-care evening. Get some take out, rent a movie, and pamper yourself after a long week. Or if you don’t want to do it at home, head to a salon to get your nails done or go get a massage. Treat yo’ self!
4 // Movie marathon
There are some great Valentine’s Day movies out there: “He’s Just Not That Into You”, “Valentine’s Day,” “To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before” (and the sequel!), and more. Rent a few of them and have yourself a movie marathon, complete with all of the popcorn and candy you want.
5 // Mini-getaway
Since Valentine’s Day also coincides with President’s Day weekend, take the opportunity and get out of town for a few days. While getting on a plane might be expensive, hop in the car and road trip somewhere that’s only a few hours away. You’ll be in a different environment and different headspace, which is the perfect way to relax and spend the weekend.
How are you spending Valentine’s Day this year?
