Happy Friday everyone! I hope everyone is staying safe, healthy, and sane as we finish our third (?) week of social distancing. This last week was a big one for me in terms of discovering and becoming obsessed with some pretty fun things if I do say so myself.
Without further ado, here are five things I’ve been loving this week.
1 // TikTok
Honestly, social distancing made me do it. I caved and finally downloaded TikTok after swearing up and down that I wasn’t ever going to. Never say never I suppose. It’s honestly been a nice interjection of humor throughout this somber, mundane days. But beware, it is addicting if you don’t set limits for yourself. My favorites so far are videos iminating Alexis Rose’s audition dance in Schitt’s Creek, “getting the band back together,” and “bored at home”.
2 // Nintendo Switch
Believe it or not, I used to be quite the little gamer back in the day. I had both a Game Boy Advance and NintendoDS, and as a family, we had an Xbox360 and PS2. But I loved playing on my Game Boy and DS. Specifically, MarioKart, Super Mario Bros., Mario & Sonic at the Olympics and Kirby. I’d been toying around with getting a Nintendo Switch Lite for a while so I figured now would be a good time to do so with social distancing. So I picked one up with a few games, including MarioKart 8, Super Mario Bros., and Animal Crossing. And I’ve been loving the mindlessness of it so far!
3 // Bleach-dyed Sweatsuits
This has been all over TikTok and shared by some of the influencers I follow. Basically, you take a black sweatshirt and sweatpants (something inexpensive like Hanes or Fruit of the Loom) and some bleach and bleach dye them. I love doing tie-dye type DIYs, so I want to hop on this trends and do it over quarantine. Surprisingly, finding the supplies is the hard part since practically every store is out of bleach. I also want to tie dye a white set.
4 // Needlepoint
I tell you, this period has made get super into crafting. In the past, I’ve tried crocheting and could never get into it, but I wanted to do some other handicraft. And, needlepoint is making a comeback among “grandmillennials” so I’ve decided to try it out. I ordered a really cute canvas and threads for my first project and am excited to see how it’ll go!
5 // Baking
In addition to gaming, this period has also allowed me to bake A LOT. Last week, it was bread, this week, I made some Rice Krispie treats (there was a serious craving) and some banana bread with some overripe bananas. It’s a great stress relief for me and gives me a chance to keep my skills on fleek.
What have you guys been loving this week?
